KENTISH TOWN 1 CHALFONT ST. PETER 7

Saints went level with Colney Heath at the top of The Premier League on Saturday with a crushing 7-1 away win at bottom of the league Kentish Town. Only goal difference keeps us in second place.

Played at the cavernous Copthall Stadium in front of a small crowd Saints took an early lead with Lee Thompson converting a Ben Stack corner. Charlie Strutton doubled the lead on 28 minutes and Ben Stack deceived the home keeper with a long range lob on the half hour.

3-0 ahead at the break and with the home side offering little opposition Saints were well on top and within seven minutes of the restart the score had raced ahead to 6-1. Alan Hedley netted for the 3rd game on the trot on 46 minutes and Kentish scored a soft goal through Uduma Kalu a minute later for 4-1. Ben Stack scored his second from the spot on 51 and Charlie Strutton added number six a minute later.

Danny Edwards was able to withdraw players without disrupting the dominance Saints had over a disappointing Kentish team. Adam Louth hit the bar twice as Saints made enough chances to overwhelm their hosts. Substitute Daniel Sears rounded off the scoring with a clean strike in the last 5 minutes.

It seems that Kentish can only look forward to a long, cold winter. They were better when we beat them 10-1 last season in the re-arranged away fixture played at Mill Meadow.

Saints, on the other hand, with 7 successive league wins and 28 goals scored along the way are on a roll.

SAINTS: Mark Oliver, Lewis Cumber, Jerome Okimo, Ed Chemlal, John Carroll (sub Ben Sturgess), Alan Hedley (sub Luke Brook-Smith), Ben Stack, Lee Togwell, Charlie Strutton (sub Daniel Sears), Lee Thompson, Adam Louth.

Next game is at home on Tuesday in the Challenge Trophy against Division One side Kings Langley. Kick off 7.45pm. Next weekend we host Royston Town at 3.00pm

Charlie Strutton 2 3m, 20m     Kevin Cooper 55m,

Saints came out fighting in this league encounter and easly look the first half by three goals to nil and it should probably have been a lot more. Herford player manager Pablo Ardiles (son of Tottenham's Ardiles) pulled his team together at half time and the second period was a much more even match.

Saints are now second in the league and it was the sixth win in  a row. Nest Saturday the first team is away at Kentish Town.

Newport Pagnell Town Reserves were beaten 3-1 by Chalfont Reserves on Saturday.

Chalfont St. Peter AFC's Chairman, Denis Mair, was pleased to announce this evening that Denis Wise (ex Chelsea and England) will be assisting the club going forward. Denis Wise, recognising the importance the club plays within the community, has offered his assistance in strengthening that position. His involvement will be purely on the community side, he will NOT, in any way, be involved with the football side.
